The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) and Aasandha Company have officially opened a new office in Addu City to improve access to public services.
The office was inaugurated by Minister of Social and Family Development Dr Aishath Shiham, who said the initiative reflects President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s efforts to bring essential services closer to citizens through decentralization.
The minister noted that the new office will eliminate the need for residents of Addu to travel long distances for social protection and healthcare-related services. She added that it will provide a lasting solution to challenges faced when applying for assistance and accessing Aasandha services.
Plans are also underway to expand similar services to Fuvahmulah City and Huvadhu Atoll, which is expected to reduce delays in document processing and service delivery.
NSPA CEO Heena Waleed said the new office will greatly benefit residents in the southern atolls, adding that physical offices remain important even as services continue to be digitized.
