Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has stated that there are no discussions underway to increase fees for boats operating in the Male' North Harbour.
In a statement, MPL said rumors about a possible fee increase are baseless. The company clarified that it has not held any discussions with the government regarding raising the current charges at the harbour.
MPL also noted that no fees are currently charged for fishing vessels using the harbour’s D, E, and F zones.
The company said that under the Boduthakurufaanu Magu Development Project, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has instructed authorities to expand services at Male’ North Harbour. Plans include providing water and electricity services to vessels operating in the harbour’s A zone, with work already underway to introduce the service.
MPL added that its goal is to make services at the harbour more convenient for vessels. Policy changes introduced on the 14th of this month are also expected to reduce waiting times for cargo vessels and improve access to harbour services.
