Under the instructions of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the Maldives Hajj Corporation has commenced efforts to make special arrangements for pilgrims who were unable to depart for Umrah this Ramadan due to various factors, including the conflict in the Middle East sparked by the US and Israel's actions against Iran.
The Hajj Corporation stated today that they are exploring the possibility of chartering a flight and arranging necessary accommodations for those whose travel plans were disrupted by flight cancellations or other difficulties while under the care of various private groups.
According to the corporation, individuals who intended to perform the Umrah pilgrimage this Ramadan but were unable to depart are encouraged to submit their details to the email address [email protected] before 12:00 PM tomorrow to express interest in this opportunity.
Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed further confirmed that the Ministry, in coordination with the Hajj Corporation and Maldivian (the national airline), is working diligently to find travel solutions for those stranded, particularly those affected by cancellations in transit countries.
Minister Shaheem noted that approximately 150 individuals have been identified as seeking travel arrangements thus far. He added that if a charter flight is secured, additional seats will be offered to other interested parties subject to availability. Despite the limited time remaining, the Minister emphasized that they are working to resolve all obstacles in this matter.
