Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Mohamed Saeed, stated today that despite fluctuations in global oil prices due to the ongoing Middle East conflict, the Maldives' fuel stock remains secure and will not face any shortages.

Speaking at a press conference held at the President's Office today, Minister Saeed noted that international oil prices surged by 25-30 percent yesterday.

The Minister explained that while the current global situation is causing price volatility, the Maldives is implementing proactive measures to mitigate these effects, ensuring that the country remains unaffected by fuel shortages.

"To put it briefly, there is no cause for concern; by the grace of God, we will not run out of fuel. This includes both LPG and general fuel supplies," the Minister affirmed.

Minister Saeed further emphasized that with the increasing number of tourists and the growing working population in the Maldives, the government is working diligently to ensure food and energy security for everyone.

In this regard, he confirmed that a fresh shipment of fuel is currently en route to the Maldives.

The Minister also assured that there are no issues with aviation fuel supplies and reiterated that the government is monitoring the global situation very closely.
