The Prosecutor General's Office has charged former Deputy Managing Director of Malé Water and Sewerage Company(MWSC), Mohamed Fazeel Rasheed, along with 11 others, for allegedly submitting false documents to claim land under the ‘Bheemwariya’ scheme.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, Fazeel knowingly provided forged documents in connection with the case. The other individuals charged include Mariyam Saaee, Eema Waheed, Aishath Mauroofa, Mohamed Adam, Abdul Majeed Mahir, Hussain Zahir Zain, Ashhad Ali, Ahmed Ali, Ahmed Atheeq Abdulla, Ahmed Mazin, and Arshad Ali.

They are accused of submitting an invalid agreement and registry documents to obtain approval to construct a boundary wall on land acquired through the scheme.

If convicted, Fazeel faces a sentence of one year, seven months, and six days in prison.

The PG’s Office also alleged that Atheeq created false registrations and agreements while processing forms, while Mazin forged documents to prove land ownership. Arshad Ali has been charged for his alleged role in preparing the documents.

Fazeel’s brother, Fazul Rasheed, who was serving as Managing Director of Housing Development Corporation (HDC) at the time, was also investigated for allegedly deleting documents from HDC’s server. However, the Prosecutor General’s Office stated that there was insufficient evidence to file charges against him.
