Maldives Transport Link (RTL) ferry services have officially commenced in Zone 4, covering Faafu Atoll and Dhaalu Atoll.

The service was inaugurated by Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen at ceremonies held in Nilandhoo, Faafu Atoll, and in Dhaalu Atoll. The events were attended by Indian High Commissioner Balasubramaniam Gandharan, Nilandhoo MP Fathimath Saudha, Kudahuvadhoo MP Hussain Hameed, Managing Director of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) Ahmed Saudhee, and other senior officials.

MTCC stated that the new ferry services will bring significant economic and social benefits to residents of the two atolls. Six routes have been introduced, including two routes connecting Faafu and Dhaalu Atolls.

Each air-conditioned ferry has a capacity of 48 passengers, with four seats reserved for individuals registered with the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA). The vessels also include dedicated space for wheelchairs and stretchers, and trained crew members operate the service.

RTL ferry services will be offered free of charge for one week, from tomorrow until the 24th of this month. Fares will apply starting on the 25th, although passengers registered with NSPA will continue to travel free of charge.

Schedules are available on MTCC’s website and through the RTL Travel app. Additional information can be obtained via the company’s hotline at 1650.
