Chief Justice Ahmed Muthasim Adnan has stated that a primary goal of the judiciary is to digitalize its operations and establish a mechanism where court services can be requested through the eFaas portal.
Speaking at the ceremony held last night to inaugurate the "Judicial Year 2026," the Chief Justice emphasized that efforts to digitalize the judicial sector will be pursued rigorously this year. He noted that this strategic plan has been formulated to ensure that judicial services align with the standards of the government’s "Maldives 2.0" policies.
As part of this initiative, integrated case management modules are expected to be fully established in all courts within the Malé region by the end of June this year. Following this, the project will be expanded to more populous areas in the atolls.
"With the will of Almighty Allah, once this work is completed, the courts will transition into a paperless sector providing services digitally," the Chief Justice remarked.
He further revealed that work has already commenced to modernize the traditionally manual process of clearing criminal and debt records through a dedicated database. "Upon completion, the current seven-day period required for manual processing will be reduced to just one day," he added.
Additionally, the Chief Justice noted that instructions have been given to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) to prioritize and resume the practice of transcribing verbatim court proceedings and statements into Thaana script within this year.
