The Parliamentary Group Leader of the People's National Congress (PNC) and Member of Parliament for the Inguraidhoo constituency, Ibrahim Falah, has emphasized that the support of local councils is vital for the successful implementation of development projects initiated by the government across the country.
Speaking last night at a ceremony to launch the campaign for PNC candidates contesting the upcoming Local Council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) elections in Kulhudhuffushi, Falah asserted that during both terms of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) administration, no significant actions were taken to benefit the national economy.
Falah claimed that under the previous MDP government, no major development projects were effectively carried out, nor were any substantial projects completed. He noted that while work on the Thilamale' Bridge had commenced, the project lacked proper planning and execution.
In contrast, Falah stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration marks a new era of development, a sentiment he believes is shared by the residents of Kulhudhuffushi.
"Our honorable President is someone who makes promises to the people with the sincere intention and purpose of fulfilling them. Therefore, to complete the massive projects he has initiated across the country and in cities like this, the assistance and cooperation of councils will be highly essential," Falah remarked.
Falah further pointed out that since the ratification of the new Constitution in 2008, the MDP has consistently held the majority in Kulhudhuffushi across all previous council elections. He observed that the people of Kulhudhuffushi have tested the MDP for the past 17 years and urged them to elect a PNC-led council this time.
Falah concluded by assuring the public that the PNC candidates would not disappoint the island’s residents.
