Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has officially launched the Maldives National Logistics service as part of government efforts to ensure the supply of essential commodities at affordable prices.

The service was inaugurated by Minister of Finance Moosa Zameer at the Maldives Marine Expo 2026 held at Hulhumalé Central Park yesterday.

MPL said the service aims to provide basic commodities and staple goods to people across the country through a nationwide network of warehouses, while also strengthening cold-chain capacity and scheduled transport to regional hubs.

The Maldives National Logistics Corporation (MNPL) is a comprehensive system developed by MPL to integrate transportation, storage, and delivery of goods nationwide. The initiative is expected to address long-standing logistical challenges, reduce transport costs, and create new opportunities for businesses and the public.

In December 2025, MPL was tasked with sustaining the government’s Logistics Network (ANCHOR), leading to the expansion of its logistics services and the establishment of Maldives National Logistics as a dedicated service.

MPL is also preparing to introduce Domestic Transshipment, allowing containers arriving at Malé Commercial Port to be directly transported to regional ports such as Hithadhoo and Kulhudhuffushi by MPL vessels.

Chief Logistics Officer Ahmed Nazim said scheduled deliveries will be a key benefit for businesses, adding that MPL will manage deliveries to regional ports and islands through its own vessels and ferry system. He also announced that an additional landing craft is under development and expected to be launched within the next eight months.
