President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has urged students across the Maldives to begin their day with the Fajr prayer, emphasizing the importance of practicing Islamic principles in daily life. He made the remarks while speaking at the opening ceremony of the new academic year held today at Shaheed Ali School.

Congratulating students, teachers, and school principals on the start of the academic year, the President said education should benefit both the nation and society. He stressed the need to instill patriotism among children and youth, encouraging students to aspire to serve the country.

The President also called on parents to take responsibility for ensuring their children wake up for Fajr prayer, noting that religious teachings should be practiced daily, not just learned from books. He highlighted the role of teachers and parents in laying a strong foundation for students’ education and said the government would provide necessary resources.

The President added that efforts are underway to improve the quality of education in the islands, noting that more than 1,500 students moved to Malé this year due to limited educational opportunities in the atolls.
