Manta Air has received a D1 Rating from the Maldives Civil Aviation Authority, allowing the airline to conduct specialised non-destructive testing on aircraft structures and components.

The approval enables Manta Air’s Maintenance Organisation to carry out advanced inspections that detect hidden cracks, corrosion, and internal structural defects without damaging aircraft parts. With this rating, Manta Air becomes one of the few operators in the Maldives authorised to perform such testing and can also offer certified services to other airlines and aviation organisations.

Under the D1 rating, Manta Air is approved to use three testing methods: liquid penetrant inspection, eddy current testing, and ultrasonic testing. These methods allow the detection of surface, sub-surface, and deep internal defects in both metal and composite aircraft structures.

The testing services will be provided at Manta Air’s dedicated non-destructive testing workshop at its maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility in Dhaalu Kudahuvadhoo. The facility is equipped with a controlled environment, specialised lighting, and advanced equipment to ensure accurate results.

The certification is part of a broader effort to expand the airline’s engineering capabilities. Recent upgrades include improvements to structural repair facilities, inspection processes, corrosion prevention programmes, and other technical services.

Manta Air has also announced plans to further enhance its technical operations in 2026, supporting improved safety, efficiency, and reduced aircraft downtime across the Maldivian aviation sector.
