The Elections Commission has confirmed that voting and vote counting will not be digitized in the upcoming elections.

Elections Commission President Mohamed Zahid said that while some aspects of the local council elections will be handled digitally, key processes such as voting, vote counting, and announcing results will continue to be carried out manually, as in previous elections.

He said the commission does not expect any situation that would require digitizing the voting or counting process and assured the public that this approach will not change.

Zahid said the Elections Commission is taking all necessary steps to ensure the local council elections are conducted smoothly and without undue influence. He added that some ballot boxes will contain up to 70 ballot papers and that training is underway for election staff.

According to the Elections Commission, around 7,000 officials will be deployed across the country to manage the elections.
