Authorities have searched five locations and closed two premises as part of ongoing efforts to identify and repatriate expatriates living in the Maldives without valid visas.

The operation was carried out on Friday as a joint effort by Maldives Immigration and the Maldives Food and Drug Authority, with police support. During the operation, seven undocumented expatriates were taken into Immigration custody, and notices were issued before two locations were shut down.

Police said the operations are aimed at maintaining public order, community safety, and economic stability.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, a total of 9,691 expatriates have been deported since President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu took office over the past two years. Among them, 509 expatriates were deported for failing to provide required biometric information.

Authorities said such operations will continue as part of broader enforcement measures targeting immigration violations.
