President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has decided to offer a ten percent discount on payments for land plots allocated under a government housing scheme in Hulhumalé Phase One, which were awarded based on a point system.

Speaking at a meeting held tonight at Rehendhi School for the residents of Hulhumalé Phase One, the President stated that no concessions have been given so far to those who received land plots in Hulhumalé Phase One, and these plots were to be acquired through payment.

"For those who received land plots through a draw or point scheme, for those who received state land for residential purposes, the government will provide a ten percent discount on the total price mentioned in the agreement," the President stated.

The President said that this ten percent would be deducted from the remaining amount due, and a large number of people have already paid a significant amount.

He pledged that the building height for plots in Hulhumalé Phase One and Phase Two would be increased to ten stories, as he had promised, but noted that there would be conditions attached to this.

"Parking is a very big problem. Therefore, we will make this conditional. If you are building ten floors, parking on the ground floor is mandatory. Parking for the residents of that building on three floors will be mandatory. And one floor will be mandated for non-residential use. Whether it's commercial or for some other purpose, a purpose other than residence, a different purpose that can generate income, that floor must be designated for it," he said.

The President further stated that the remaining floors could be used for residence or rented out to other parties, and opportunities to build up to ten stories in this manner will be opened very soon.
