The draw for the allocation of new plots to beneficiaries of the Binveriyaa Scheme in Hulhumalé Phase Three has officially commenced.
The Ministry of Housing announced today that, following changes to the Hulhumalé Phase Three Land Use Plan and the preparation of a new plan, the area designated for plots allocated under the Binveriyaa Scheme in Hulhumalé Phase Three has been altered. Consequently, new lot numbers have been determined for these beneficiaries.
"The ongoing process today is the draw for allocating new plots among the individuals who were designated land in Hulhumalé Phase Three, in connection with these changes," the Ministry of Housing stated.
Details regarding the number and sizes of plots issued in Hulhumalé Phase Three:
- 181 plots of 1650 sq ft
- 242 plots of 2050 sq ft
- 132 plots of 2450 sq ft
- 62 plots of 2850 sq ft
- 41 plots of 3250 sq ft
- 16 plots of 3650 sq ft
- 24 plots of 4000 sq ft
In light of these changes, the draw for plot allocation for those receiving land in Hulhumalé Phase Three will be conducted by designated Ministry of Housing staff.
For individuals who received land and are attending the draw hall, arrangements have been made for one representative per plot to enter. During the lottery, beneficiaries will instantly receive their allocated plot number via SMS.
Upon completion of the plot allocation draw, the Ministry of Housing will subsequently share information regarding plot registrations and agreements with the land recipients. The Ministry further added that once the land reclamation is complete, the process of handing over the plots to the beneficiaries will proceed.
The land reclamation work for Hulhumalé Phase Three resumed on the 10th of last month, following a period of suspension. The project had previously stalled because the contracted company, Sri Lanka's Capital Marine and Civil Construction Company (CMCC), halted its operations.
Since the resumption of land reclamation for Hulhumalé Phase Three, 31.5 hectares out of a total of 63 hectares have now been completed. MACL, the company undertaking the work, has indicated that the project is expected to be finalized within the next six weeks.
