Health Minister Abdulla Nazim has stated that no medicine provided under Aasandha has been stopped.

Nazim made this statement while responding to a question posed by Galolhu South constituency member Meekail Ahmed Naseem during today's sitting of the People's Majlis. The question sought clarification on whether the minister acknowledges the public's complaints regarding significant difficulties in obtaining some essential medicines previously provided by Aasandha, and what the timeline is for resolving these issues.

The Minister stated that no medicine provided by Aasandha has been stopped. Furthermore, Nazim stated that work is underway to add medicines not currently covered by Aasandha to its list.

"For example, if I were to say, for a person who has quit smoking, not everyone would need medicine; some can be helped through counseling. However, in certain clinical situations where medication is required for treatment, the state has now started providing such necessary medicines through the Aasandha system. Additionally, as you may know, the services of the first fertility center established in the Maldives are now also provided through the Aasandha system, which the government has now established," he said.

Therefore, Nazim stated that reducing or limiting Aasandha is not a policy of this government.

"God willing, through the collaborative efforts we are undertaking, we are expanding Aasandha further and broadening the provision of healthcare services to the public," he said.
