The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) today concluded its series of specialized training programs and workshops in the intellectual domain in the Republic of Maldives, held under the strategic initiative “Prevention,” aimed at developing national capabilities in countering extremism and strengthening intellectual security.
The final day included a lecture titled “Manifestations of Ideological Extremism and Its Risks,” delivered by Aref bin Awad Al-Rikabi, Professor of Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence at Umm Al-Qura University. The session concluded the program and was attended by officials from the Ministry of Defense, the Police, and the Customs Authority in the Republic of Maldives.
The lecture addressed early indicators of ideological extremism, explained how deviant behaviors can emerge in educational and social environments, and outlined the risks such behaviors pose to community security and stability.
Prof. Al-Rikabi also presented key scientific tools for identifying ideological deviations and effective educational methods for addressing them, in addition to presenting successful international models for preventing extremism and enhancing public awareness.
These activities fall under IMCTC’s “Prevention” initiative across member countries, designed to raise intellectual awareness, empower specialists to build safe educational environments, and strengthen their capabilities in countering extremist ideologies—contributing to the protection of youth and the stability of societies.
At the conclusion of its intellectual programs in the Maldives, IMCTC reaffirmed its commitment to supporting member countries through advanced, high-impact programs that promote moderation and strengthen national systems for countering extremism across all domains.
