Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has launched the 12th batch of its apprenticeship programme, aimed at equipping young people with technical and professional skills in the maritime and port sectors.

The programme was inaugurated at a ceremony held at MPL’s headquarters, attended by senior officials including MPL’s CEO, DCP (Retired) Mohamed Rishwan, and Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Hussain Jawaz.

A total of 20 participants will take part in this year’s six-month programme, during which they will receive practical training and a monthly allowance of MVR 5,000.

The apprenticeship initiative forms part of MPL’s continued efforts to create employment and training opportunities for youth interested in careers within the commercial harbour. Over 300 individuals have participated in MPL’s previous apprenticeship programmes, with more than 200 now employed by the company.
