The Civil Court has ordered Fenaka Corporation to pay MVR 9.9 million to IS Enterprises Private Limited, settling a dispute over unpaid invoices.
The case was filed by IS Enterprises to recover MVR 10.7 million for services provided to Fenaka, along with MVR 30,000 in trial costs. According to IS Enterprises, the amount was due for 27 invoices issued to the corporation.
Fenaka initially denied the claims, arguing that the findings presented by IS Enterprises were inaccurate and lacked a legal basis. The company maintained that the payments requested were inconsistent with existing agreements between the two parties.
However, during the appeal hearing, Fenaka acknowledged part of the debt and agreed to pay MVR 8 million, while disputing the remainder. Fenaka argued that some of the services provided by IS Enterprises were delivered after the agreed deadlines and therefore not eligible for payment.
After reviewing the case, the Civil Court ruled that Fenaka is required to pay a total of MVR 9.9 million to IS Enterprises, which includes MVR 25,000 in trial costs. The court instructed Fenaka to settle the full amount within one month, no later than 30 November.
The ruling concludes the legal dispute between the state-owned utility company and IS Enterprises, emphasising the court’s position on upholding contractual payment obligations.
