Mohamed Shafee has resigned from his position as the State Minister at the Ministry of Communication, Science and Technology.
Shafee announced his resignation on Twitter stating that it was because a solution was not provided to corruption allegation.
The corruption allegation in question is the government using the software from the construction company contracted to build the 25-floor building of Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). Shafee raised the question as to why the government would consider using a software from a company suspected to be involved in corruption.
Since the government refused to address this, and indeed all other concerns I raised, I have resigned from the role of Minister of State. I saw no reason to keep drawing a salary when matters I escalated kept getting swept under the rug.

Shafee said that he has raised the question and if attempts are being made to cover it up, there is no need for him to stay on and collect a paycheck.
With a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Shafee was appointed to the Communication Ministry as a State Minister in December 2018.
