President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has returned to Malé after visiting 14 inhabited islands in North Miladhunmadulu Atoll.
During the tour, he visited Kan'ditheemu, Noomaraa, Goidhoo, Feydhoo, Feevah, Bileiyfahi, Foakaidhoo, Milandhoo, Narudhoo, Maroshi, Lhaimagu, Funadhoo, Komandoo and Maaun'goodhoo, meeting island councils, Women’s Development Committees, and residents to discuss development priorities and community wellbeing.
He was accompanied by Cabinet ministers and heads of State-Owned Enterprises, who shared updates on ongoing and upcoming projects. Several new initiatives were launched during the visit, including programmes under the population consolidation policy, new housing schemes, and projects in education, healthcare, and physical wellbeing.
The President inaugurated the first ice plant established under his Administration’s fisheries development efforts and announced that MVR 500 million would be allocated each to the health and education sectors in the 2026 State Budget.
He also shared updates on the national economy, pledged to introduce modern digital payment services such as PayPal, and highlighted ongoing work to reopen stalled waste management centres in the northern islands.
In Kan'ditheemu, he inaugurated new Bank of Maldives ATM services, while in Goidhoo, he inaugurated the island’s new water and sewerage systems.
The visit is part of President Dr Muizzu’s wider effort to engage directly with communities across the country, meeting with local councils to advance development and address community needs.
