Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has begun removing banners and posters installed on public roads in Hulhumalé without their permission.
In a statement released yesterday, HDC said that installing banners and posters without their permission is prohibited. They are now removing such items placed for advertising in public areas of Hulhumalé without following proper procedures.
HDC stated that they will not be responsible for any damage to these items during the removal process.
HDC mentioned that parties wishing to install banners and posters in public areas of Hulhumalé can apply for permission, which will be granted according to established procedures.
They also expressed gratitude for the cooperation received from the public and businesses in these matters.
While HDC has banned installing posters and banners on Hulhumalé roads, Malé City Council yesterday removed advertising banners for MDP's protest scheduled for this Friday.
Regarding this, in a letter sent to MDP Secretary General Shaazly Shafeeq on the 14th of this month via the Malé City Council WhatsApp group, the council stated that they have been receiving numerous complaints from citizens about MDP's protest banners.
Therefore, the letter requested that if MDP wishes to install banners or posters, they should do so following the City Council's procedures.
