The first phase of the K. Thilafushi Integrated Logistics Terminal has been completed, according to the project’s contractor, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

The project, overseen by Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), is being carried out in two phases. Phase one, undertaken by MTCC, included the construction of a 60-metre revetment, an additional 15-metre quay wall, and land levelling. Following this, MPL will proceed with the installation of workshops, office buildings, and lighting infrastructure at the site.

The Integrated Logistics Terminal is being developed to address the long-term space limitations at Malé Commercial Port and Hulhumalé International Terminal. Under the development plan, operations of the Malé Commercial Port will be relocated to Thilafushi, while the existing Hulhumalé port will be converted into a transshipment hub. Additionally, facilities at North Harbour and T-Jetty will also be shifted to Thilafushi.

Once both phases are completed, the terminal is expected to ease congestion at current facilities, improve cargo clearance efficiency, and provide a lasting solution to the space constraints faced at Malé and Hulhumalé ports.
