Parliament has approved the appointment of three members to the Civil Service Commission (CSC) following a vote held on Wednesday at a special sitting outside the regular session.

Each nominee was considered separately. Mohamed Nasih was approved with 52 votes in favour and four against, Dr Hussain Faiz received 54 votes, and Dr Dheeba Moosa secured the strongest backing with 60 votes in favour.

The nominations were submitted by the President under Article 180(b) of the Constitution and Section 13 of the Civil Service Act. Parliament’s Committee on Independent Institutions reviewed six nominees, assessing them according to the same criteria used for candidates for independent bodies and autonomous posts.

The committee concluded that three candidates – Mohamed Nasih, Dr Hussain Faiz, and Dr Dheeba Moosa – surpassed the 75 percent threshold, and recommended them for parliamentary approval.
