The Ministry of Health has awarded contracts for the construction of new buildings at health centres in six islands. The projects were officially handed over at a signing ceremony held yesterday.
The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) was entrusted with projects in four islands, while the Road Development Corporation (RDC) will oversee works in two islands.
On behalf of the ministry, State Minister Ismail Abdulla signed the agreements with MTCC, represented by Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Jamshed. The projects awarded to MTCC include:
- K. Hura Health Centre – MVR 27.2 million, to be completed in 360 days
- Haa Alifu Dhidhdhoo Health Centre – MVR 12 million, 270 days, including public health units, wards, laboratories, procedure rooms, and other facilities
- K. Kaashidhoo Health Centre – MVR 7.1 million, 240 days, with new wards, laboratories, and support facilities
- V. Fulidhoo Health Centre – MVR 27 million, 360 days
Meanwhile, State Minister Ismail Shareef signed agreements with RDC, represented by Managing Director Ibrahim Nazim. RDC has been awarded projects for:
- HA. Marandhoo Health Centre – MVR 11.5 million, 365 days
- HA. Baarah Health Centre – MVR 11.5 million, 365 days
Both projects will include new wards, laboratories, procedure rooms, private rooms, and support facilities.
In addition, the ministry signed an agreement with Charter Engineering Company Pvt Ltd to design the new building that will upgrade Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital to tertiary-level services. Deputy Minister Ahmed Hamdhan Nasir signed on behalf of the ministry, while AbdulAziz Hassan signed for the company. The design contract is valued at MVR 917,484 and is to be completed within 100 days.
