The removal of vehicles abandoned for long periods on the streets of Malé City has begun.
In a post on X today, the police said this effort is part of making Malé's streets safe and comfortable for everyone.
"The Maldives Police Service, in collaboration with the Malé City Council and the Ministry of Home Affairs, is working on removing vehicles that have been left unused for long periods on the streets of Malé City, causing inconvenience to the public," the police said.
Recently, the police have also towed a large number of vehicles illegally parked on major roads in Malé. After warning about towing illegally parked vehicles on some streets in Malé, the police towed 420 vehicles illegally parked on Majeedhee Magu and Boduthakurufaanu Magu last June.
Last month, the police also began towing vehicles illegally parked in various areas of Hulhumalé.
