A resolution has been submitted to the People's Majlis to gauge the views of members regarding the prolonged and unresolved housing issue related to the K-Park Residences project.

The resolution was presented at today's parliamentary session by Member of Parliament for Galolhu North Constituency, Mohamed Ibrahim (Kudoo).

In the resolution, MP Kudoo stated that many people had signed agreements to purchase flats from the K-Park Residence project, initiated by a private company, and had paid down payments, with some even paying the full amount. As a result, they have suffered financial losses, and their money being tied up in this project has prevented them from purchasing flats in other projects.

Moreover, having signed an agreement to purchase a flat has been set as a disqualifying condition in social housing projects run by the government to provide basic housing. This has also deprived these individuals of the opportunity to purchase flats from government-run projects.

The resolution warns that if the handover of these flats continues to be delayed or if the issue remains unresolved for a long time, the situation of these families could worsen further.

It also mentions that despite repeatedly sending letters to relevant government agencies, meeting with heads of institutions, and pleading for a solution, no adequate response has been given after many days.

The resolution points out that the housing shortage is a root cause of many social issues, leading youth to fall into drug addiction and crime.

Last week, a petition signed by 50 people who purchased flats from K-Park Residency was also submitted to the parliament along with a letter.
