Two individuals arrested during a protest in Malé, demanding justice for Hawwa Yumn Rasheed Rasheed, have been formally charged, according to the Prosecutor General's Office.

The PG Office confirmed that charges were filed at the Criminal Court on 25 June. Mahzoom has been charged under Section 120(a) of the Penal Code for assault or unlawful contact. If found guilty, he faces up to six months in prison.

Shiman has been charged under Section 532(a) for obstructing a law enforcement officer in the line of duty. His charge also stems from the same protest held near the Sergeant Adam Haleem Building. If convicted, Shiman could face up to four months and 24 days in jail.

Both individuals were briefly detained following the protest and released the same day. Police had accused them of disobeying orders and obstructing officers during the demonstration.
