Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen has denied and responded to allegations made against him in connection with the case of a young woman found fallen on the roof of a building in Male' last Friday morning.

According to information shared by the police with journalists, the incident occurred after eight youth were in a house in central Male', then four of them went to a house in Henveiru, and two people from there went to the house where the incident happened, with the woman falling from the 9th floor of that building.

It's understood that the first house they were in was M. Maandhoogey Dhekunuge. This is Minister Ameen's house. They then went to H. Kashiveli. The incident happened at G. Fentonia.

In a post on X tonight, Minister Ameen said that some youth were in the building he lives in on Friday morning, including two of his nephews. He also said that the building is not his alone, but is registered to three of his full siblings.

The Minister said he had no information about these youth gathering in that building.

The Minister said he received information about the incident on Friday evening, and that two of his younger siblings were involved in the case and were being questioned.

"To this date, I have not made a single phone call or contacted a single person within law enforcement or the Government or anybody else to obtain updates on investigation relating to the above matter, or influence any investigation whatsoever, in order to distance myself from allegation of influence. Social media posts to the contrary are completely baseless and false," Minister Ameen said.

Minister Ameen has prayed for a speedy recovery for the 21-year-old woman who is receiving treatment at IGMH in critical condition in this case.

Police have said that no one else was involved in the 21-year-old woman's fall from that building.
