Government has introduced an incentive scheme for employees who continue working during the last ten days of the fasting month of Ramadan. This comes as part of the latest amendment to the state’s pay framework, announced by the Finance Ministry.
Under the new amendment, government employees required to provide essential public services from the 20th day of Ramadan onwards will receive an attendance allowance for every day they report to work. However, those under the state pay framework will still be entitled to the allowance within this period.
Earlier, the President’s Office confirmed that government offices will remain closed during the last ten days of Ramadan this year as well. This follows President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge to designate these days as public holidays, allowing citizens to focus on religious observances. The decision was initially made on 4th February last year, formalising an annual closure from the 20th day of Ramadan until the end of the month.
