Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has ordered the MNDF SIFCO to recover over MVR 92 million to the state from the company contracted to build 300 flats for MNDF staff.
The flat project was inaugurated in 2013 by then President, Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan and the project was conducted by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and Noomadi Resorts and Residences.
However, the work was stopped for a time and the government of President Yameen contracted the project to a company called Island Experts in 2016.
The ACC said that the MVR 92,570,639.27 is owed under the termination of the agreement after three post-date cheques bounced.
ACC said that SIFCO has paid a total of MVR 125,938,079 to contracted company which includes MVR from 10,635,175 from those who would get the flat and MVR 115,302,079 from the state budget.
