Ibrahim Falah, Parliamentary Group Leader of the ruling People's National Congress (PNC) and MP for Inguraidhoo constituency, has said it's very surprising that former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom talks about the judiciary, theft, and cruelty.

Falah said this in a post on X last night, while President Yameen has been repeatedly criticizing Falah, the government, and the People's Majlis in People's National Front (PNF) rallies. Yameen particularly criticized the Judicial Service Commission (JSC)'s suspension of Supreme Court Justices Husnu Al Suood, Mahaz Ali Zahir, and Azmiralda Zahir.

In his post, Falah said that the current 20th Majlis is an exemplary parliament because the government doesn't "need its hands and feet." He added that when he was a member of the 18th Majlis, then-President Yameen and his wife Fathimath Ibrahim had their "hands and feet on the Majlis floor."

"It's even more surprising that Yameen talks about the judiciary and courts. It's even more surprising that he talks about theft. When he talks about cruelty, sometimes I wonder if it's really Abdulla Yameen saying these things," he said.

Falah said that if you ask any Maldivian citizen over 15 years old, you'll get the same answer: if you ask who committed the biggest betrayal to this country, or who ruled this country most cruelly, the answer will be Yameen's name.

"Who destroyed this country's judiciary, removed tin roofs from courts, and exerted the most influence on courts? The answer is Yameen. Who kept 12 members of this country's People's Majlis on the streets for two years, prevented Majlis members from entering the Majlis, abused them, and besieged the Majlis? The answer is still Yameen," he said.

Falah further said that if you ask who looted this country's treasury and deposited hundreds of millions of rufiyaa into personal accounts, the answer will still be Yameen's name.
