Due to continuous heavy rain from yesterday evening until early this morning in the Male' area, streets in Male' were flooded, and 16,911 tons of water have been drained using pumps.

MNDF said today that in their ongoing operation, they have provided assistance to 131 houses in Male' and placed 976 sandbags.

MNDF said they have been working on draining water using 13 pumps placed in five areas of Male'.

"As the flooded areas in Male' City have been brought back to normal conditions, the water draining work has been temporarily suspended. In this operation, 16,911 tons of water have been drained," MNDF said.

In addition to Male' City, MNDF said that in the operations carried out during yesterday's heavy rain across the Maldives, soldiers were active in draining water in K. Hura, K. Guraidhoo, K. Hinmafushi, K. Thulusdhoo, K. Maafushi, ADh. Mahibadhoo, Dh. Meedhoo, and F. Nilandhoo.

According to statistics published by the Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office), from 8:00 AM yesterday to 8:00 AM today, K. Dhiffushi received the heaviest rainfall. The island received 296.1 millimeters of rain.

An official from the Met Office told "One" today that the weather will be bad for all areas of the Maldives today as well. He said the weather will be especially bad for the northern and central atolls.

The official said that wind speeds could reach up to 45 miles per hour in squalls. He also said there would be heavy rain and rough seas.

The official said that although the weather will be bad today, it will improve tomorrow. He said that while the central and southern atolls might experience some effects of the current weather, there won't be heavy rain.
