The government is in the process of cancelling contracts for various development projects that were previously awarded to different companies but remain incomplete.

During a visit to Uligamu in Haa Alif Atoll, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu highlighted that several projects assigned by the previous administration had not progressed as expected. One such example is the Uligamu farm project, which was handed over to multiple companies without ensuring the necessary resources. The government now plans to consolidate the project under a single company to ensure proper development.

Additionally, the President stated that several other stalled projects, including school construction, would be reassessed, with work resuming under a new approach. The government aims to streamline and restart these projects in February.

As part of Uligamu's development plans, the budget for this year includes several key initiatives. One of the major projects is the Yacht Marina, which is expected to boost the island’s economy. Preparations for the project are underway, and construction is set to begin within six months.

Furthermore, the construction of the Uligan Health Centre has been handed over to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), with work scheduled to start before Ramadan.

The government has also reaffirmed its commitment to establishing children’s parks, indoor gyms, and sea-based recreational areas on all islands across the Maldives.
