Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has denied claims of theft at the Thinadhoo Council office, following allegations made by Council President Saud Ali.

Saud alleged that individuals claiming to be from the ACC entered the council office and took files, disrupting council operations. “Some services had to be suspended due to the incident. Police are currently deployed at the council office, and a case of robbery has been filed,” Saud told One today.

According to Thinadhoo police, a theft case involving box files was lodged at 7:55 PM, but the exact number of files taken remains unclear.

In response, the ACC released a statement clarifying that its team visited the Thinadhoo Council office as part of an ongoing investigation into complaints lodged with the commission. The ACC stated that documents were collected in accordance with legal procedures under the Constitution and the ACC Act, and denied any wrongdoing.

“The claims made by Thinadhoo Council are false. The commission is deeply concerned about the misinformation being spread,” the statement read.

It is understood that the investigation relates to allegations involving Council President Saud Ali. The ACC emphasised its commitment to following legal protocols and called for cooperation from the council.
