The renting out of Dharubaaruge for various purposes has been temporarily suspended.

Following the fire incident on the 12th of this month that destroyed the building housing the Ministry of Housing, Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure, and Ministry of Environment, these ministries are now operating from Dharubaaruge.

In an announcement released today, the Ministry of Construction stated that due to the temporary relocation of the three ministries' operations to Dharubaaruge, they are publicly notifying that the renting out of Dharubaaruge halls has been temporarily suspended.

With the assistance of state-owned companies, arrangements were made for work to be carried out at Dharubaaruge, and the services of the three affected ministries began to be provided from Dharubaaruge on the 15th of this month.

At a press conference held at Dharubaaruge on the 14th of this month to share information about the fire incident and its aftermath, Construction Minister Dr. Abdullah Muttalib said that although there were rumors about some data being lost due to the incident, initial checks have shown that backups exist for a considerable amount of data.

The Minister stated that no information related to housing projects, which directly affect the public, has been lost, and that applications for the newly opened loan scheme by the government are also safe.

Regarding the fire incident, Police Commissioner Ali Shujau said at the press conference that it is still difficult to say exactly how the fire incident at the Housing Ministry occurred, and that the incident is being investigated in collaboration with a team from abroad.

The team of experts from India who came to the Maldives to investigate the fire incident has now left the country. However, the police have not yet revealed any findings from the investigation.
