Fifteen employees dismissed from the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) who were laid off after Prosecutor General Abbas Shareef called for a criminal investigation into the controversial Binveriya scheme run by the previous government have been reinstated.
The employees, who held key positions at HDC, were terminated on 22 December. An HDC official confirmed to One that the reinstated employees were not linked to the ongoing police and Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) investigation. However, staff members still under investigation remain suspended.
In connection with the case, former HDC Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed’s passport has been impounded. Fazul resigned after allegations surfaced regarding land allotments violating the landlord scheme's guidelines.
All HDC board members, except Chairman Ahmed Nasif, were initially suspended. However, their suspensions were lifted following Fazal’s resignation and the appointment of a new managing director.
