Police have raided the home of Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed, the former Managing Director of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), as part of an investigation into irregularities in the government’s landlord scheme. Electronic devices were seized during the raid.

The investigation began after claims surfaced that land plots were allocated to individuals not eligible under the scheme. Following this, all HDC board members except Chairman Ahmed Nasif were suspended. Fazul resigned, stating he wanted to allow the investigation to proceed without affecting HDC's operations. He denied any wrongdoing by the company.

The case also involves Fazul's brother, Mohamed Fazeel Rasheed, Managing Director of the Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC). The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has seized the passports of 20 individuals connected to the case. Additionally, 15 of Fazul’s associates at HDC were recently dismissed.

Authorities are investigating allegations of forged documents. The Housing Ministry confirmed that Fazeel and others had not applied for land under the landlord scheme, despite documents suggesting otherwise. A letter on the issue has circulated on social media, raising further questions.

The police, ACC, and other agencies are continuing their investigation into the suspected fraud.
