President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that he has not received a letter from former Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Chairperson Ahmed Zuhoor alleging that Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed, the corporation’s former managing director, was involved in a scam.

Speaking to reporters outside the President’s Office, President Dr Muizzu explained that if such a letter had been sent to him, he would have taken immediate action. He emphasised his commitment to addressing corruption and ensuring transparency within his administration.

The president dismissed claims suggesting he had ignored the matter, insisting that he had not received the alleged letter. He stressed that his government was determined to eliminate corruption and illegal activities, reiterating his previous promises to uphold integrity in public office.

President Dr Muizzu indicated that the police had already been directed to investigate irregularities within HDC after authorities were made aware of the issue. He underscored that government appointees were placed in their roles to serve the public with honesty, not to engage in corruption or wrongdoing.

The president further mentioned that anyone involved in illegal activities would be promptly removed from their duties. He also asserted that the previous administration would be held accountable for any misconduct during its tenure and reiterated that corruption would have no place in his government.
