Shiuna Ahmed, the former Deputy CEO of the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA), has denied any involvement in corruption after being dismissed from her position. The exact reason for her dismissal remains unclear.

The controversy revolves around allegations of corruption in a deal where NSPA leased a building from Maldives Media House (MMH), the parent company of MMTV. The building was leased for MVR 34 million over five years through an open tender approved by the National Tender Board. Questions about the deal’s transparency led to an investigation.

In a statement, Shiuna said she had no role in the alleged corruption and had not attended any meetings about the lease. She emphasised her commitment to serving the public with integrity and condemned attempts to link her to corrupt practices.

NSPA previously denied the corruption claims, calling them baseless and harmful to its reputation. The agency announced it would cancel the lease after consultation with the Ministry of Finance, citing financial losses caused by the controversy.
