Shiuna Ahmed, the Deputy CEO of the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA), has been dismissed from her position.

While "One" has confirmed Shiuna's dismissal tonight, the specific reason for her termination remains unclear.

The dismissal of NSPA's Deputy CEO Shiuna comes at a time when the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has begun investigating allegations of corruption in the process of acquiring a building for NSPA operations, following a request from NSPA itself to look into the matter. However, it's not confirmed whether Shiuna's dismissal is related to this case.

Earlier this month, in connection with this case, the ACC investigation team entered NSPA and the Ministry of Finance to gather necessary information for the investigation.

Corruption allegations against NSPA arose when it leased a building from Maldives Media House, the company behind the recently launched TV channel MMTV, for a total of MVR 34 million over five years. NSPA leased the property with the approval of the National Tender Board and through an open tender process.

In a press release issued on the second day of this month, NSPA stated that false information was being spread through various media outlets, tarnishing the agency's reputation regarding the transaction of the leased building from Maldives Media House.

They mentioned that due to the significant material and moral damage caused to the company, Maldives Media House has proposed to terminate the agreement.

NSPA said that after consulting with the Ministry of Finance, they have decided to terminate the agreement.

They also stated that further necessary transactions and procedures for terminating the agreement are being carried out under the guidance of the Ministry of Finance.
