Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is investigating possible corruption in the 'Binveriya' and 'Gedhoruveriya' schemes launched by the previous government to provide land and flats to Malé city residents.

The investigation, supported by Prosecutor General Abbas Shareef, focuses on allegations of document forgery. Police began looking into the matter following a tip-off and recently visited the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) offices.

One case involves Fazeel, who was found ineligible for a plot under the Binveriya Scheme but later submitted a document claiming land ownership in Hulhumalé. He sought HDC’s permission to build a wall on the land. The document has been sent to the Housing Ministry for verification.

Another person, Abdul Majeed Mahir from Dhiddhoo, also applied for permissions with HDC. However, a letter from the Housing Ministry suggests neither Fazeel nor Mahir had applied for land under the schemes.

Following these events, Fazeel has been suspended from his duties at the Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC), and most HDC board members, including Managing Director Fazul Rasheed, have been suspended. Fazul denies any wrongdoing.

Authorities are continuing to verify documents and investigate the allegations to ensure fairness and accountability.
