Ministry of Education has announced that state agencies must seek approval before involving school students in their activities.

In a recent circular sent to government departments, local councils, and organisations, the ministry outlined the importance of aligning activities with the academic calendar to ensure they are conducted in a structured and planned manner.

The ministry stated that events involving students must be included in the school’s activity calendar and approved before the start of the academic year. Schools, it noted, should only be contacted about such activities after obtaining the necessary permissions.

It was also highlighted that students’ participation in extracurricular events should not disrupt their studies. The ministry pointed out that unplanned activities could affect students’ academic performance, create confusion, and place financial burdens on both schools and parents.

The circular further indicated that unorganised activities have a negative impact on students' mental and physical well-being, as well as on teachers and the overall school environment.

The ministry’s directive aims to ensure a balance between academic responsibilities and extracurricular involvement, fostering a supportive learning environment for students.
