Three Government ministries that were forced to suspend operations following Thursday’s fire tragedy have temporarily relocated to Dharubaaruge and resumed services.

The fire, which gutted the Housing Ministry's building, brought the operations of the Housing Ministry, Construction and Infrastructure Ministry, and Environment Ministry to a halt.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, speaking during his visit to ADh. Dhangethi, announced that the ministries would resume services from Dharubaaruge at 8:00 am today.

At a press conference held at Dharubaaruge yesterday, Construction Minister Dr Abdullah Mutalib addressed concerns about potential data loss due to the fire. He confirmed that critical data had been backed up and assured the public that no information related to housing projects or the government’s new loan scheme had been lost.

Police Commissioner Ali Shujau also spoke at the press conference, stating that investigations into the cause of the fire are underway. He revealed that a foreign team would be assisting local investigators within the next few days to ensure a thorough examination of the incident.

“This was a major fire incident, and the public deserves to know what happened,” Commissioner Shujau said, adding that the findings will be essential for preventing similar incidents in the future.

The Government has expressed its commitment to restoring normalcy and ensuring uninterrupted services for the public despite the challenges posed by the fire.
