President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with members of the fishing community this morning at the President's Office to discuss key issues affecting the industry. During the meeting, fishermen voiced their concerns and highlighted the challenges they face, particularly in areas such as low fish prices, difficulties in obtaining fuel and financing, and issues with offloading their catch.

The fishermen also requested continued support in line with the President’s pledges to develop the fishing industry. They expressed a desire for further improvements and for the government to address the ongoing difficulties in their sector.

In addition to these concerns, the fishermen shared ideas on how modern technology could be utilised to advance the industry. They discussed potential ways to expand the fishing market, enhance the quality of fish, and streamline operations.

In response, President Dr Muizzu assured the fishermen that the government would collaborate closely with them to resolve these issues. He committed to taking the concerns raised seriously and to acting promptly. The President also expressed his intention to hold such meetings more regularly to ensure continuous dialogue between the government and the fishing community.
