The Mayor of Malé City, Adam Azim, has stated that specific areas will be designated for putting up posters in the Malé region.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of STELCO's "Chaalu Veshi Magey Zinmaa" program held this morning, Azim said that they are working to end the use of STELCO's distribution boxes and electrical boards in the Malé area as boards for displaying political campaign advertisements.
He said that they are working on prohibiting the posting of anything on these boards and designating specific places for putting up posters and advertisements.
"We are working on making it so that posters cannot be put up anywhere in Malé. Instead, we are moving forward with a project to identify specific places where posters can be put up and establish specific procedures for this," said the Mayor.
Azim said that in the future, they plan to prohibit putting up posters and advertisements on office buildings and houses in the Malé area without permission from the City Council. He also mentioned that they are considering placing digital boards on street lamps for advertisements. He added that specific time periods will be set for displaying advertisements on these boards, and a system will be established to allow many people to use these boards.
