Dhiraagu, in partnership with Women in Tech Maldives, has completed the Dhidhdhoo edition of its Girls to Code programme, teaching coding skills to girls aged 10 to 13.
The two-month programme introduced participants to HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, focusing on girls with no prior coding experience. Twenty girls learned how to design and create their own websites, helping them gain skills and confidence.
"The goal is to spark interest in technology, build self-belief, and boost confidence at an early age," said Dhiraagu’s CSR Manager, Bishara Hameed.
Women in Tech Maldives President Nahza Ibrahim added, "This programme shows that with the right support, young girls can achieve great things. We hope it helps them build skills for a bright future."
The Girls to Code programme has also been held in other areas, including Fuvahmulah City, Thinadhoo City, and Lhaviyani Atoll, as part of Dhiraagu’s efforts to empower women in technology.
