President Dr Mohamed Muizzu officially inaugurated Dharumavantha Hospital as a state-of-the-art tertiary hospital in a ceremony held this evening.
The 25-storey hospital, initially constructed during former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom's administration at a cost of USD 143 million, first began operations in April 2019. However, it was not fully equipped as a tertiary facility until now.
Speaking at the event, IGMH CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem highlighted that the previous administration had procured the equipment necessary to elevate the hospital’s services. The current government has now added advanced facilities, making the hospital capable of offering new specialised services.
Among the key upgrades are the inauguration of the National Fertility Centre, a Hybrid Cath Lab, and a dedicated emergency room for children. These additions are set to significantly enhance healthcare access and quality for the Maldivian people.
