President Dr Mohamed Muizzu attended the opening of the World Leaders Climate Action Summit at COP29, focused on the theme “In Solidarity for a Green World" on Tuesday.

COP29 presents a key opportunity for the Maldives to highlight its climate resilience and sustainable development goals, with President Dr Muizzu continuing to advocate for the unique challenges faced by Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

This the President's second COP participation since taking office, following COP28 where he introduced plans to plant five million trees and reach 33 percent renewable energy within five years. At COP29, he is set to share further insights on the Maldives’ climate strategy in his national address.
