Maldives Immigration has submitted 24 cases of suspected human trafficking for further investigation to the Police.

A press statement issued by the department revealed that they have been probing into 67 companies after it was found that they had used illegal documents to bring in expat workers for various projects. Out of these 67 companies, cases of 24 companies have been submitted to the Police for further investigations as they are suspected of human trafficking.

Immigration added that the cases were submitted to the Police along with all documents and records available from the department, which may be of use during the investigation. These include details of senior officials and any person(s) suspected of being involved in human trafficking.

All works regarding said 24 companies are suspended till the conclusion of the investigation.
